We participate in events by other organizations fighting against muscular dystrophy like the MDA and PPMD, and we are proudly announcing Walking to End Duchenne’s first local event.  “I Will Walk for You” is an Art Exhibit and Reception to raise funds and awareness about Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD).  More than 40 artists are donating their works of art, some of them based on the spontaneous drawings of children affected with Duchenne.  The proceeds from the sale of the artwork will be donated to Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy (PPMD), leaders in the fight to end Duchenne.

This project was born on Thanksgiving Day. While a family was enjoying their blessings, they remembered that not everyone was as lucky as they were.  Health, which most people take for granted, was taking away the happiness of a dear friend.  Even worse, it was progressively deteriorating the body of a little boy, Alex, who at the age of 5 was diagnosed with DUCHENNE MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY (DMD).
So, they decided that they needed to do something to help Alex and other children like him.  Then, more friends and family gathered together to organize a local event in order to create awareness about Duchenne and raise funds for the cure.

“I Will Walk for You” will take place at the Coral Gables museum in Miami, Florida during the last weekend of May.  There will be a private reception the opening night, but the Exhibit will be open to the public during Saturday May 31st and Sunday June 1st 2014.  Please join us to show your support for this cause!
